‘One of those wines that stops you in your tracks, this is a beautifully weighted Chardonnay from Bokkeveld shale soil. Fermented in 25% new wood with no malolactic, it’s a seamless cocktail of the CY 76, 95 and 96 clones with lots of texture, notes of cashew nut and lemon butter and supporting, refreshing acidity and minerality. Bravo, Pieter Jacobus Geyer’. 2023-29 – Tim Atkin MW, SA Special Report 2023, 95/100
‘The 2021 Thamnus Chardonnay is powerful and sleek. Notes of cool citrus, almond paste and peach flirt on the nose, combined with fragrant spice. The body is rich and textured, offering pure lemon and lime, supported by finely balanced French oak. The firm acidity carries the powerful fruit and an elegant long, sumptuous finish. Drink to 2029’ – Winemaker
