Tokara was purchased in 1994 by GT Ferreira for residential purposes, but it wasn’t long before the great potential for planting vineyards was recognised inspiring the planting of classic varietals on the 400m above sea-level slopes. The cool air and low temperatures contribute to the excellent quality of Tokara Wines.
This wine is a blend of 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Merlot, 7% Petit Verdot, 4% Cabernet Franc. Only grapes from the best blocks and from the best parts of these blocks were used. The average yield is between 5 and 10 t/ha. The grapes were hand-picked at optimal ripeness.The grapes originated from TOKARA’s premium vineyards on the slopes of the Simonsberg Mountain outside of Stellenbosch.
