Tokara Telos 2017

Region: Stellenbosch

Tasting note:

‘Some might quibble about the deliberately high price, but there’s no denying the complexity or sheer class of this cuvée of Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. Sourced from a single 0.5-hectare block, it has wonderful depth and granitic focus. The new wood is very well integrated, embellishing the flavours of blackcurrant, black cherry, fennel and wet stones. Remarkable. 2024-35’ – Tim Atkin MW, SA Special Report 2022, 97/100

‘Consisting of 92% single-block Cabernet Sauvignon and 8% Petit Verdot, it was matured for 22 months in 225-litre barrels, 65% new. The nose shows top notes of violets and incense before cassis and pencil shavings while the palate is full but balanced, luxurious yet not vulgar – succulent, full of verve, the tannins wonderfully fine-grained, the finish long and dry. Possessing depth and intensity of flavour, it resonates in the mouth.’ – Christian Eedes,, 96/100
