Uva Mira Mountain Vineyards are located on the slopes of the Helderberg mountains, up against the Helderberg Nature Reserve. Uva Mira translates as ‘the wonderful grape’. Uva is the Latin word for grape, Mira means wonderful, miraculous and full of charm.
The estate is 127 hectares in size – 33 hectares of which are under vine. Six varietals are grown, namely Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Merlot, Shiraz, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. The vineyards are planted between 260 and 620 metres above sea level and only nine kilometres from False Bay.
Great care was taken when designating each vineyard site to a particular root-stock, varietal and clone. The latest in technological research was carried out and soil profiles of each individual vineyard drawn up to ensure optimum suitability for each varietal and clone planted.
“This wine commemorates the lifework of my father, O.T. Venter Senior. Mentor, advisor, oracle, guiding light and inspiration for family and friends.”
