Intense and precise with dark chocolate cacao and red fruit aromas, a hint of pencil shavings, slightly savoury, with a hint of violet floral notes shining
through the fruit as it opens up. There’s a juicy red fruit core with flavour bursts of cherry and raspberry and some savoury and floral notes witha finish of fresh herbal tobacco leaf. The elegance of the tannins is seductive – fine, balanced and silky. A wine of vibrancy and minerality showcasing the perfect balance between grace and power.

Uva Mira Mountain Vineyards are located on the slopes of the Helderberg mountains, up against the Helderberg Nature Reserve. Uva Mira translates as ‘the wonderful grape’. Uva is the Latin word for grape, Mira means wonderful, miraculous and full of charm. The estate is 127 hectares in size, thirty three hectares of which are under vine. Six varietals are grown, namely Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Merlot, Shiraz, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. The vineyards are planted between 260m and 620m above sea level and only 9km from False Bay. Great care was taken when designating each vineyard site to a particular root-stock, varietal and clone. The latest in technological research was carried out and soil profiles of each individual vineyard drawn up to ensure optimum suitability for each varietal and clone planted.

Vines for this wine are planted on north and north-east-facing slopes at an altitude of about 410m above sea level. Maturation over eighteen months in French oak barrels, 40% new.
