Region: Helderberg, Stellenbosch
These Sauvignon Blanc vines are planted on the highest vineyards on the Estate ( 400 – 470m alt ), on the slopes of the Helderberg Mountain range, facing False Bay. The early morning breezes cool the vines, which contributes to the superb natural acidity in the grapes. Decomposed granite soils contribute to the effortless minerality on the palate.
With the first winter rainfall occurring at the end of May, it was one of the driest winters, which made for a challenging year. Winter was late but cold enough to ensure good dormancy in our vines. Hot temperatures from October resulted in earlier budding than 2015. Berries were smaller than usual with pleasing flavour concentration which made for a truly unique vintage.
Impresses on the nose with crisp fruit aromas of kiwi, watermelon and sweet melon and a core of minerality. A tropical style of Sauvignon Blanc with luscious mouthfuls of guava and white peach that envelop your palate. This wine displays refreshing acidity with lovely mid palate structure.
