Van Loggerenberg Wines was started by Lukas and wife Roxanne with their first vintage in 2016. The 2019 vintage is the fourth release for Lukas – a rising star, Young Gun and 2018 Young Winemaker of the Year by Tim Atkin. Lukas grew up in Rawsonville in the Breederivier valley, and was always surrounded by vineyards and wine. His wines are produced in the Devon Valley and the grapes are sourced from Stellenbosch, Paarl and Swartland. Each wine and it’s name has a specific story behind it and his wines have become extremely sought-after. ‘Pretty damn hot,’ says Christian Eedes raving about his previous releases.
Van Loggerenberg Breton Cabernet Franc 2023
R443.00
Region: Stellenbosch
Tasting note:
“75% of grapes from Lynedoch (destemmed) and 25% from Polkadraai Hills (whole-bunch fermented). Matured for 10 months, 55% in barrel and 45% in concrete. Top notes of fresh herbs and fynbos before red and black berries as well as earth. Light bodied with plenty of refreshment factor – pure fruit, lip-smacking acidity and an uncompromisingly dry finish.” – CE 94pts
