This wine is a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 13% Cabernet Franc, 5% Petit Verdot & 2% Malbec, sourced from north and north-westerly vineyards where soil types of granite, Hutton and weathered shale dominate. The 2012 harvest itself was warm and dry BUT the nights were cool which is perfect for colour and flavour formation. Maturation took place in French Oak barrels (20% new). This is a superbly integrated wine, showing a generous aroma of a melange of black & red berries, old leather with hints of roses. On flavour it is on the perfect plateau of maturity – smooth, complex and full of flavour. Drink now – 2022.
