Jeremy and Leigh Ord’s acclaimed estate – Waterford, lies in the Blaauwklippen Valley at the foot of the Helderberg Mountain – a prime location where there is influence both from Stellenbosch’s warmer climate and the cold Atlantic a few kilometres away.  The farm’s diverse plantings are supplemented by vines in Elgin, amongst others.  The name Waterford is a combination of the Ord surname as well as the waterfalls from the mountains that surround the estate (WATERF + ORD). The idea was given by the oldest daughter, Ashleigh Ord. Only half of the total 120 hectares of land is planted with vines in order to preserve and protect the natural fauna and flora there.
Their iconic flagship blend is named after the owner of Waterford Estate, Jeremy, or ‘Jem’, as he is affectionately known. This is a master blend of different red varietals that collectively epitomise the best of the vintage at Waterford Estate. It is created with the idea of showcasing the artistry behind winemaking, which is the skill of blending – combining all the components into a seamless whole, that is greater than the sum of its parts.

Blend: Cabernet Sauvignon 50%, Shiraz 23%, Merlot 7%, Mourvèdre 6%, Sangiovese 5%, Cabernet Franc 4%, Petit Verdot 3% & Barbera 2%
