Brothers JP and Pierre Winshaw have released a new set of wines under the Winshaw Vineyards label. The wines are inspired by their great-grandfather, Dr. William Charles Winshaw, who started the Stellenbosch Farmers’ Winery, and their grandfather, Bill Winshaw, who continued the growth of this company. The Winshaw Family Farm is located in Klein Welmoed, Stellenbosch where, in addition to wine, Pierre and JP also produce pasture-reared beef, lamb and eggs.
Winshaw Family Vineyards Bill Winshaw Blend 2017
R326.00
Region: Stellenbosch
Tasting note:
‘ The Bill Winshaw 2017 stands out. Consisting of 67% Cabernet Franc, 18% Malbec, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Merlot, it was matured for 24 months in 225- and 300-litre barrels, 37% new. The nose shows red and black berries, cigar box and pencil shavings while the palate has a dense core of fruit, bright acidity and fine tannins, the finish is long and particularly dry. It’s a harmonious, elegant offering.’ – Christian Eedes, Winemag.co.za, 93/100
